THE HISTORY OF THE REGION

We first encounter the name of the settlement, as it is referred to today in a notarian document from Venetian archives, dated April 17, 1414.
The document refers to the distribution of the property of a Venetian feudal lord, a section of which were 6 vineyards in the Alagni region and which are recorded in detail.
From the book "The land and farmers of Medieval Crete 13th-14th century" pp. 354-362 by Haralambos Gasparis, published by the National Research Foundation.

Our main vineyard is in the centre of the area, the village is located on the right (to the west) of the vineyard.
